Sottoscritto l'accordo tra CNEL e Accademia sulla ricerca e sull’innovazione tecnologica

Today, at the headquarters of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei in Palazzo Corsini, the CNEL and the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei signed a framework agreement aimed at promoting matters of common interest related to the world of research and technological innovation at all levels, from basic research to the most advanced applications in various disciplinary fields.

‘Scientific research is the true infrastructure of our future, the fundamental driver of civil and economic progress enshrined in our Constitution,’ said CNEL President Renato Brunetta. "The alliance with the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei brings together the prestige and knowledge of the Academy with the prerogatives and expertise of the CNEL, with the aim of designing a horizon that will make our country a true scientific and technological hub, fully integrated into Europe. Together, we can help to create a system capable not only of nurturing our own talents, but also of attracting the best minds internationally, thus ensuring a solid foundation of excellence for our research and global competitiveness for Europe."

‘The agreement with CNEL,’ said Roberto Antonelli, president of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, "represents a fundamental step towards integrating rigorous scientific research with the analysis of labour dynamics. Making academic knowledge available to institutions is essential for addressing complex challenges such as global change, the impact of artificial intelligence, territorial cohesion and the country's attractiveness to new generations. Together, we are working towards progress based on knowledge and geared towards Italy's sustainable development."

The agreement addresses crucial social issues, such as the promotion of lifestyles, demographics and territorial cohesion, with initiatives dedicated to the regeneration and repopulation of inland areas. Another pillar of the agreement is collaboration in the preparation of the CNEL 2026 Report on Italy's attractiveness to young people and the application of new digital technologies with reference to the labour market and with a particular focus on the impact of generative artificial intelligence.

CNEL and Lincei agree to share data on general, sectoral and local labour market trends and on the regulatory and remuneration structures expressed in collective bargaining, with specific reference to issues related to the research sector and the status of public and private researchers.

Basic and applied research, as defined in the Constitution, is one of the fundamental drivers of progress in Italy, and this progress inevitably involves the world of work at every level. CNEL and Lincei share this vision and agree on joint action in this crucial sector of society.

The Academy will contribute to the Council's annual report on the services provided by the public administration, promoting its dissemination among its stakeholders. The collaboration also concerns the analysis of migration flows and the dynamics of integration of foreigners. This activity will be developed through participation in the initiatives of the National Coordination Body for the Integration of Foreigners (O.N.C.) at the National Council for Economics and Labour.

Finally, the agreement stipulates that the CNEL and the Lincei may host jointly promoted events and working groups at their respective headquarters, thereby consolidating an institutional axis geared towards sustainable economic development and the integration of scientific knowledge into the legislative process and the improvement of the national research ecosystem.
