On Wednesday 24 June, on occasion of the day of Florence’s patron saint, the Fellowa Michele Ciliberto and Luca Bindi will be awarded the Fiorino d’Oro 2026, the highest honour bestowed by the City of Florence, in the splendid Sala d’Arme at Palazzo Vecchio.
Mayor Sara Funaro emphasises that The individuals and organisations honoured with the Fiorino d’Oro embody the very best of the values that the city is committed to promoting.
Michele Ciliberto, an internationally distinguished historian of philosophy and President of the National Institute for Renaissance Studies, has been honoured for his immense contribution to culture and to the study of Renaissance thought.
Luca Bindi, Full Professor of Mineralogy and Crystallography at the University of Florence, celebrated worldwide for his revolutionary discovery of ‘quasicrystals’ in nature.
