Prof. Figalli is a chaired professor of mathema4cs at ETH Zürich and is currently the director of the Ins4tute for Mathema4cs Research at ETH. He is an expert in the calculus of varia4ons and par4al differen4al equa4ons, and he is a scien4fic advisor and board member for several ins4tutes and universi4es. He holds Doctorate Honoris Causa from several universi4es. In 2018, he received the Fields Medal for “his contribu4ons to the theory of op4mal transport, and its applica4on to par4al differen4al equa4ons, metric geometry, and probability”.
