The National Academy of Lincei, within its cultural and institutional mandate, calls for an immediate ceasefire on all war fronts and reiterates that peace is a fundamental and indispensable value, as stated by the Italian Constitution.
The Academy proposes to relaunch a common European foreign policy decisively, and consequently, the establishment of a European military defence.
In a historical moment like the present, while aware of the general complexity, such a strategic and far-sighted choice would have numerous advantages: a more efficient European army in its defensive role, possible economic savings for all states, and greater cohesive solidarity of the European Union.
