Launch of the CELRIC Center at the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei

The activities of the Lincean Center for Research and Scientific Cooperation with China (CELRIC) officially commenced today at the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. The Center is under the direction of Patrizio Bianchi, with Alberto Quadrio Curzio presiding for the Class of Moral Sciences and Luciano Maiani for the Class of Physical Sciences.

This initiative, aimed at promoting and consolidating scientific collaboration networks and research projects with national and international institutions operating in the People’s Republic of China, is the result of a long-standing commitment. It positions the Academy as the lead institution for a consortium of Italian and European scientific and cultural entities.

The project sees the active participation of members from: The Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI), The National Research Council (CNR), The National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), The National Institute of Health (ISS). Individual experts who have built solid working relationships in the region over the years. The Center’s activities are supported by an executive board of renowned experts, including Luigi Capogrossi Colognesi, Maria Chiara Malaguti, and Michele Morgante, with Francesco Pegoraro and Marina Timoteo serving as scientific secretaries. The Center’s program will be structured around two annual academic sessions—held in spring and autumn—in addition to conferences, exhibitions, seminars, and workshops organized in synergy with public and private institutions. "In this historical moment, it is essential not only to keep doors open but also to establish long-term research pathways between Italy and China," emphasized Patrizio Bianchi. "Science, technology, and research must serve as a fundamental bridge for building global peace, representing Europe’s profound values of equality and the very identity of our Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei," declared the President of the Academy, Roberto Antonelli.
