Roberto Ragazzoni, a member of the Accademia dei Lincei and president of INAF, has been awarded the Gamow Medal by the I. I. Mechnikov National University of Odessa. Among the reasons cited for the award were his contributions to astrophysics and astronomical instrumentation, his research on adaptive optics, and his commitment to education and scientific cooperation between Italy and Ukraine.
The award ceremony took place during the 26th Gamow International Astronomical Conference.
