G7 Academies Meetings

Among the various international activities, the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei participates in the meetings held by the national academies of the G7 countries. Launched in 2005 by the Royal Society, in preparation for the Summit in the United Kingdom, the event is held annually, also with the participation of academies from emerging countries. The purpose of the meetings is to produce joint statements for recommendations on global issues to be presented to the leaders of the G7 countries before the Summit meetings.

G7 Academies

In preparation for the upcoming summit,  to be hold in Kananaskis, Alberta, from June 15 to 17, 2025, the G7 national academies convened in Ottawa, from May 6-8, under the theme “Advancing Science for Society: Health, Migration and Technologies.” The Academies discussed and presented joint statements with recommendations for addressing three global challenges: advanced technologies and data security; sustainable migration; and climate action and health resilience.

The statements were officially submitted to the Government of Canada on May 8 and are now being forwarded to the government leadership of each G7 country via the Sherpa process.
